Ashland Tax & Business Services, Inc. has been helping individuals and businesses in and around Clay County, Alabama since 1986. We have two Enrolled Agents on staff year round (Patricia Mitchell and Timothy Rude). We currently have the only enrolled agents practicing in Clay County.
In addition to tax return preparation, we also offer a variety of services for small businesses, including bookkeeping, payroll processing and filing, and sales tax processing and filing.
We also offer business entity organizational assistance (LLC, partnership, corporation, etc.), computer repair, and friendly tax planning advice.
Our office is located at 82948 AL Hwy 9 in Ashland, AL. From the square in Ashland, go 2 blocks south on Hwy 9 and we're located on the left - on the corner of Hwy 9 and 3rd Ave S.
What is an Enrolled Agent?
An enrolled agent is a person who has earned the privilege of representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. Enrolled agents, like attorneys and certified public accountants (CPAs), are generally unrestricted as to which taxpayers they can represent, what types of tax matters they can handle, and which IRS offices they can practice before. In contrast, practice before the IRS is much more limited for other individuals such as unenrolled tax return preparers, family members, full time employees, partners, and corporate officers.
Our enrolled agents have demonstrated special competence in tax matters by passing a written examination administered by the IRS, and have passed a background check with the Internal Revenue Service. Additionally, enrolled agents are required to maintain their skills by continuing education each year. |
