INTRODUCTION We have developed a Privacy Policy in accordance with the 1999 Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. This Act was issued to protect your privacy in relation to your financial services. CPAs have been and continue to be bound by professional standards of confidentiality that are more stringent than those required by law. Therefore, we have always protected your right to privacy. THE INFORMATION THAT WE COLLECT We collect nonpublic personal information from you on applications, tax preparation documents used in preparing your income tax return, and other forms. Nonpublic personal information is information about you that we collect in connection with providing a service to you. PARTIES TO WHOM WE DISCLOSE INFORMATION We are legally prohibited from disclosing any nonpublic personal information about our customers or former customers without written consent from you. Although, when electronically filing your income tax return we do use a nonaffiliated third party company. We provide this company with the information that is on your income tax return and they then send it to the Internal Revenue Service and/or your states Department of Revenue. If you prefer that we do not disclose your information to the nonaffiliated third party company, you may opt out of those disclosures, that is, you may direct us not to make those disclosures. If you wish to opt out of disclosures to the software provider just inform us that you do not want your income tax return electronically filed. THE CONFIDENTIALITY, SECURITY, AND INTEGRITY OF YOUR NONPUBLIC PERSONAL INFORMATION Access to nonpublic information about you is restricted to me and my employees who need to know that information to provide you with the best possible service. My employees sign a confidentiality agreement upon employment. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your nonpublic personal information. ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION In the interest of facilitating our services to you, we may communicate by facsimile transmission or send electronic mail over the Internet. Such communications may include information that is confidential to you. Our firm employs measures in the use of facsimile machines and computer technology designed to maintain data security. We will use our best efforts to keep such communications secure in accordance with our obligations under applicable laws and professional standards.
