IRS

What is the IRS?

IRS stands for Internal Revenue Service, which is the bureau of the Department of the Treasury that enforces income tax laws, collects federal income tax, and processes filed tax returns every year. The IRS is headed by the Commissioner of Internal Revenue, who is appointed by the President of the United States and serves a 5-year term.
