7 Brands to Shop with on Giving TuesdayGiving Back | November 27, 2018 | By Susannah McQuitty
For me, Christmas shopping is one of two extremes: Either I’m ecstatic about the perfect gift I found for my sister, or I’m bummed about drawing my brother’s name again (seriously, there are only so many years you can gift wrap a box of Reese’s Puffs and call it a day).
Giving Tuesday is a perfect opportunity to make every gift count by bringing awareness to brands that give back and charities that work year-round to make the word a better place.
Here are a few brands and items we found with awesome givebacks!
Fire Dept. Coffee
First of all, coffee. They also give 10% of the proceeds to ill or injured first responders, which is even better. Also, this awesome mug needs to join my collection.
Soma water filters and drinkware
I know I’m on the coffee train, but go with it. Is this bottle not the coolest? Hello, cold brew. They also donate to clean water projects around the world for every filter they sell.
Love Your Melon
You’ve probably heard of this awesome brand’s adorable and comfy beanies. Love Your Melon donates 50% of their profits to their nonprofit partners in the pediatric oncology field, and it gets even better with their new product: Blankets. That’s right, you can officially wrap yourself in a beanie-knit blanket this Christmas.
Looking for stocking stuffers? Yoobi makes the cutest school supplies and has a great giveback to boot. For every Yoobi item purchased, the company donates school supplies to a classroom in need—and these items are seriously adorable.
Candles are always in during the holidays, but One Grid is taking these awesome home accents to the next level. For every candle bought, they send a solar light to someone who does not have electricity, eliminating the need for harmful kerosene lamps. The scents sound decadent, too—from chamomile and sage to lemongrass and sage.
United by Blue
Durable, colorful, and responsible gear and goods are the name of the game for United by Blue. They remove 1 pound of trash from the ocean for every item sold, and for the new California enamel mug, they are also donating 100% of the $20 price to the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund. That’s some serious good for a sweet mug.
Got any travel buffs on your to-buy list? You have to check out Wayfaren’s gorgeous travel notebooks and wall maps, especially because they donate 10% of every purchase to the Her Initiative, which is a daughter organization to Healing Waters International!
Wherever you shop, do a little good
Even sites like Amazon often have giveback opportunities—just type Smile.Amazon.com and the company will support a charity of your choice. You could also make a donation to a charity like 1040.com’s giveback partner, Healing Waters International, in a family member’s name for Christmas. No matter who you’re shopping for this season, you can sweeten the gift by supporting brands who give back.
