Did the new GOP tax bill cut deductions for medical expenses?

No, the Republican tax bill, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, did not cut medical expense deductions. The medical expense deduction lives on and, in fact, is expanded for 2017 and 2018.

Medical expenses exceeding 7.5% of adjusted gross income (AGI) can be deducted on Schedule A for 2017 and 2018. In 2019, the law reverts back to 10%.
