Does President Trump’s tax bill affect me this year?

Nearly all the provisions of the Republican tax bill, The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, will not go into effect until 2018.

The medical expense deduction, which is only claimed by those who itemize deductions and pay substantial medical bills, was expanded for 2017 and 2018: Medical expenses exceeding 7.5% of adjusted gross income (AGI) can be deducted on Schedule A for those two years.

In 2019, that percentage will revert back to 10%.
