Independent Contractor

What is an Independent Contractor?

An independent contractor, in general, is a self-employed person who offers services to the public. They work for themselves, not for an employer. As a general rule, a worker qualifies as an independent contractor if the client can control or direct only the result of the work rather than the process. Independent contractors can specialize in myriad services, from plumbing to photography, from carpentry to dog walking.
