Updated for filing 2021 tax returns

Yes, you can use your FSA for over-the-counter (OTC) medicine and supplies such as virus prep, first aid, and pain relief – these items now qualify for FSA coverage due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The CARES Act, which brought relief to Americans in the form of stimulus checks and improved unemployment insurance, also made these OTC drugs and supplies eligible for purchase with HSA and FSA funds.

HSA and FSA funds have tax benefits that make medical supplies more affordable in the long run.

For a full list of FSA qualified items, see FSA Store’s eligibility list.
